Friday - Weather: high 70, low 42. Mostly sunny, high thin clouds.  Wind NW 9 mph.
Easy morning - read, did computer work.  Lunch here, easy afternoon for our last day here, then another long walk after coffee and treat at the coffee shop.  The air is different today, and the breeze feels good. Linda had some coffee ice cream today - she has been very good, since several ice cream shops have been tempting her.  Lite supper here.
Saturday - Weather: high 67, low 40.  Mostly cloudy, wind N at 14.  Need to have a sweatshirt or jacket on today.
After breakfast, it was time to pack up and check out of Fisherman's Village and head to Ft. Myers Beach.  We had lunch at Islamorado, the restaurant at Bass Pro at Gulf Coast Mall, close to where we used to park our 5th wheel trailer in San Carlos Park.  It's one of our favorites places to eat, so we took a break from eating lite today!  Linda had coconut shrimp with cole slaw and potato salad, and I had broiled scallops with broccoli and potato salad.  It was all very good - we especially like their potato salad.  Then we went to the library that we used to visit a lot, read some papers and magazines, and then went to check in at Caribbean Beach Club.  By 4 p.m. we were settled in, so we went for a walk on the beach and took some photos.  There is a small lagoon between the resort and the gulf, so to get to the waves, we have to walk along the edge of the lagoon for a ways.  (see photo)  We found some nice shells and talked to a lady from the resort that is from Saunemin, IL.  Small world.  The unit at the resort is clean, but small.  It makes the villas at Cypress Palms in Orlando seem extra nice.  BUT - here we are on the beach - a big deal for Bob.  After sunset, we went to get some groceries and had a lite supper here.

AT FISHERMAN'S VILLAGE

From our balcony - pelicans sitting on the water.  Enjoy watching them dive into the water from on high to catch a fish, but hard to get that in a photo.

Pelicans frequently fly and glide just over the water a few inches.

From our balcony - opening from the bay to inland canals.  The canals go for miles on a grid, so there are lots of streets that end in a circle. Boats go between the red and green signs in order to stay in the deeper water.  Lots of traffic goes by our balcony.

People with large boats anchor aways into the bay and come ashore in small boats like this, sometimes bringing their dog with them!

Nice sailboat out in the bay with its little boat dragging behind.

AT CARRIBEAN BEACH CLUB AT FT. MYERS BEACH

Great white egret visiting the resort.

The view from in front of our unit.  THIS is why we come here.  I LOVE it!!
Notice the lagoon and board walk to a small dock in the lagoon.  To the left, it goes a long way, so you can use the canoes to do some paddling.

In the far distance, looking north. At the right is the bridge to Sanibel Island, then there is a causeway, and at the left you can see the island.

Reddish egret.  Don't see these so often.  Note the ruffly reddish feathers on the neck and head.  Also, beak is pink near the face with a black tip.  Unlike the great blue heron, which moves very slow when stalking minnows in the water, this guy runs around rapidly to scare the minnows, then stops with wings out to make shade, and the minnows come to the shade for protection - big mistake!

Pelican on the small dock in the lagoon.  Lots of birds in the lagoon, looking for fish.  This guy kept flying just above the water and then diving to catch a fish.  The flap under their bill folds open when a fish is caught.

Sometimes a cloudy day makes a pretty sunset.

Sun close to setting.  Note the boat left-middle.  I bet they have a good view.

Sun is setting behind a big black cloud.
I'll probably have lots more sunset pictures, because I enjoy them so much.
