Wednesday - Weather: High 74, low 55.  Cloudy all day.  West wind 9 mph.
After breakfast we went for an hour walk along the bay to the east.  Fishermen were netting mullet again, and we found out that they keep only the females with eggs in them.  They sell them to markets, and that is the only fish they will buy.  We came back to the resort, had coffee and a blueberry muffin, and shopped at the farmer's market that they have each week.  There was a lot of good-looking vegetables, but we only bought some potatoes and little tomatoes. Everything was good sized except for the squash.  We grow butternut squash that usually are 12 to 18 inches long.  These were 4 to 5 inches long! We had lunch at Harry's again - Linda ordered scallops, and I ordered my first grouper sandwich for this year, walnut-crusted at that.  Of course, we swapped some so we get a taste of each.  After lunch, we took a ride to Burnt Store Marina, a very nice resort about half-hour south along the bay.  It's kind of remote, but a very nice, very large gated resort right on the bay.  They let us in, but not to drive around - just to go to the restaurant!  We had coffee and iced tea, split a piece of key lime pie (artfully presented), and watched the osprey and snowy egrets at the marina.  We walked a little, looking at some of the boats, and then returned to the Village.
Thursday - Weather: High 78, low 58.  Very sunny all day, southwest wind 12 mph.
Relaxed and read this morning, lunch here, later went for coffee and muffin. Then took a long walk after lunch for about 2 hours.  Part of that was taking some pictures and talking to a man walking his cute small dog.  The Village is just west of the historic district of Punta Gorda, and we see some very interesting houses and trees.  For supper, we went to a different restaurant here called 'The Village Oyster Bar'.  I had oyster stew, which was very good, and Linda had clam chowder, which was fair.  We shared two crab-cakes, which were good.  We enjoyed eating outside, but it started to get cool in the breeze.
Linda misses Christmas decorations when we come to FL,
but there was still some up at the Village until Wednesday.

An old geezer beside one of the several trees around the village.

The only kind of snowman you can see down here.

Yellow-crowned night heron.  In a small drainage ditch at the edge of the resort which runs into the bay.  Usually these are hiding in the brush during the daytime.

Snowy egret along shore of the bay.  Notice the gold feet and black bill.
White egret are larger and have black feet and gold bill.

White ibis along shore of the bay.  Notice the immature one is not all white yet.

Little blue heron (my favorite) along shore of the bay.
Love the blue and purple colors.  Smaller than the great blue heron.

Great blue heron at the same spot in the same drainage ditch
where we earlier had seen the night heron.
